Three students from Lithuania have been selected to participate in NASA International Internship Program (NASA I2) this year. This program is a part of a broad group of U.S. and foreign interns or fellows. The Program provides opportunities for interaction among the international group, both in the laboratory and in more informal settings.
„Lithuania is very proud to be among top 10 countries which have cooperation agreements with NASA and can provide a unique opportunity for its students to be trained in NASA Ames Research Center “, – said Kęstutis Šetkus, MITA director.
This week Julija Semenenko from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University and Miglė Aurėja Mickonytė from Kaunas University of Technology have already started their summer internship programme in NASA Ames Research Center. The students will spend there about 10 weeks. The other student Jonas Narkeliunas from Vilnius University is going to join this program in autumn and will have an intensive course of 16 weeks.
All candidates from Lithuania have to do go through a strict selection procedure, which consists of two phases: national selection procedure, organized by MITA, and final NASA acceptance of candidates. NASA has a right to choose the candidates, which are proposed by cooperating countries in Program.
