Meeting with the European Patent Office

Last week the Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology (MITA) welcomed a delegation from the European Patent Office (EPO). MITA representatives met with Mr. Carlo Pandolfi, Director of European and International Co-operation (DG5), and Ms. Agnieszka Kupzok, Country Co-ordinator  from European Co-operation Department.

Mr. Ricardas Valanciauskas, Head of MITA R&D&I Support Division, presented agency’s activities regarding promotion of innovation, in particular implementation of the Intellectual Property Protection Programme.

Mr. Carlo Pandolfi introduced to EPO role in the international intellectual property system, its initiatives such as the European Patent Academy.

Both sides discussed on the importance of exploitation and protection of intellectual assets, education and awareness-raising on these issues. MITA suggested that EPO could translate its basic publications in Lithuanian.

The meeting was organized with the help of the State Patent Bureau of Lithuania.
