Commercialization of R&D results

A new initiative of the commercialization of R&D results was launched under the High-Tech development programme by MITA in 2012.

The main goal of this initiative was to encourage scientists, researchers and students to establish start-up’s or spin-off’s companies in Lithuania and foster to create innovative products, technologies or services, which are competitive on the market.

During the period of 2012-2016 MITA helped to set up 48 new technological companies in Lithuania: in technology area, mainly ICT – 32, in nanotechnology – 7, in biotechnology – 5, and in mechatronics – 4.

Results:

- 150 new jobs;

- 150 innovative products created;

- 15 patent applications submitted.

Funding: over 0.8 million Eur state budget.

From 2016 similar initiatives will be supported, funded by the EU Structural Funds. During the period of 2016-2020 up to 10 million Eur of EU Structural Funds will be allocated.
